This is the brilliant Kevin Spacey as our crafty protagonist-villain in Richard III, directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road).  Shakespeare’s famously evil Gloucester is endowed by Spacey with every ounce of cruel charisma an audience could withstand.  The actor carries the epic on his hunched back (yes, literally) for 210 charged minutes, never faltering, always electric, and (from my seat in the front row), utterly explosive.  Even in his quietest, most subtle moments, he oozes venom.   For a complete (and well written) review of Old Vic’s ‘Richard III), click here.
